The Petting farm is a small intimate affair with goats, pigs, chickens and bunnies. Everyone is friendly and likes to be petted and some of the chickens enjoy being held.

Have you ever petted a pig? There hair is stiff and prickly. We have two pigs named Pete and Delmar. Delmar is super friendly and Pete can be a little shy.

The goats are friendly as well but as you might imagine are a bit silly. They too enjoy a good scratch. The goats are Nigerian dwarfs and are not so large that they will intimidate anyone.

The bunnies on the other hand are large. In fact they are some of the largest in the world called Flemish Giants. They like having their fur gently petted. Where the pigs are rough and prickly the bunnies are soft.

We have been handling our chickens since they were chicks so they are very familiar with people. When you go into the corral the first thing that generally happens is that the chickens come and check out what you are up to. They will let you pick them up. If you are unsure how to start, Amanda is there to get you holding a chicken.
